By now, much of the footage featured in the new promo will be familiar to anyone keeping track of the film’s marketing. The grown-up gang sees their younger selves reflected in a window, James McAvoy’s Bill Denbrough encounters a vision of his younger brother Georgie in the sewer, Bill Skarsgård’s psychotic clown makes a load of creepy faces, and so on. Still, it must be said that this is a tensely edited piece of promotion that seems to be doing its job in getting the fans pumped.

Though Pennywise had to wait twenty-seven years to reunite with his old foes, Chapter Two comes to us less than two years after the first installment, which currently stands as the highest-grossing horror film of all time. Going by the recent hype levels for the sequel, it’s quite possible that Andy Muschietti’s highly anticipated follow-up is going to beat that record, despite its hefty 2 hour and 45 minute runtime.

Helping matters, of course, is the sequel’s formidable cast. While the original line-up for the Losers’ Club is expected to return, the film’s main focus will be their adult equivalents, which includes the likes of McAvoy, Jessica Chastain and Bill Hader. And then, of course, you’ve got Skarsgård, who’s already promised an angrier and scarier take on Pennywise in the new movie.

You can judge for yourself if It: Chapter Two is worth all the hype when the film hits theaters on September 6th. And if you still haven’t had your fill of Stephen King adaptations after that, look out for Doctor Sleep when it comes out on November 8th.
