Howard The Duck Will Return In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

According to sources close to We Got This Covered, Howard the Duck will return in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and will have more than a silent cameo.

Of all the comic book characters that have appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far, Howard the Duck’s one that no one ever expected to see. Sure, the suit-wearing, wisecracking bird starred his own movie back in the 1980s, but given that it’s widely remembered as one of the worst films ever made, it was pretty shocking when he turned up during the post-credits scene of Guardians of the GalaxyHis subsequent second cameo in GotG Vol. 2 not to mention a quick appearance in Avengers: Endgame – then set him up as a recurring character in the MCU.

Now, we’re hearing that Howard will be returning once more for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and the best part is, he’ll actually have a proper role in the film. Unlike his previous cameos, which were extremely quick and just that, cameos, this time the character will have a more substantial presence. At least, that’s according to our sources (the same ones who told us that Taskmaster will be the villain in Black Widow). Unfortunately, they aren’t sure what part he’ll play or how much time on screen he’ll get, but they tell us that he’ll definitely have a bigger role than any of his MCU appearances to date.

Given how much is going to be happening in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and how many new characters it’s rumored to introduce (Adam Warlock, Beta Ray Bill, etc.), it’s unlikely that Howard the Duck will have a huge part to play, but still, it’s nice to know that the threequel will give him more to do than the previous Guardians films did. Then again, things can always change between now and when Vol. 3 begins shooting, but for now, at least, this seems to be the plan.

As always, we’ll let you know once we hear more on how Howard will factor into James Gunn’s hugely anticipated trilogy-closer, but in the meantime, tell us, what do you think the fan favorite character will get up to in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?
