Brad Pitt And Margot Robbie Want A Role In Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek

Ever since it was first announced, I've been dying to know more about Quentin Tarantino's Star Trek project. The director's brand of fast-talking, blood-soaked OTT thriller seems totally at odds with the Trek universe, but maybe in this instance opposites will attract.

In any case, now that Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is out and picking up rave reviews, Tarantino can start to fully commit himself to the movie, and some of his biggest stars want in on it. During a press event for the aforementioned Hollywood, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie were asked whether they’d be interested in appearing in the Trek movie that QT’s cooking up, and their response was unequivocal.

“Hells yeah!” said Pitt.

Robbie, meanwhile, offered up an equally enthusiastic answer, saying:

“I would do anything, anything that Tarantino is doing.”

So, that sounds pretty damn conclusive to me. Thing is, where could these mega-stars fit into a Star Trek film? Well, in a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Tarantino spelled out some of what his movie might consist of, saying:

“The one thing I can say is it would deal with the Chris Pine timeline. Now, I still don’t quite understand, and JJ [Abrams] can’t explain it to me, and my editor has tried to explain it to me and I still don’t get it…about something happened in the first movie that now kind of wiped the slate clean. I don’t buy that. I don’t like it. I don’t appreciate it. I don’t — fuck that…I want the whole series to have happened, it just hasn’t happened yet. No, Benedict Cumberbatch or whatever his name is is not Khan, alright? Khan is Khan. And I told JJ, like, ‘I don’t understand this. I don’t like it.’ And then he was like, ‘Ignore it! Nobody likes it. I don’t understand it. Just do whatever you want. If you want it to happen the exact way it happens on the series it can.”

Come on Quentin, it’s not that hard. A rogue Romulan mining ship disrupted the time continuum by causing a temporal incursion and accidentally traveled back in time where they attacked and destroyed the USS Kelvin, which resulted in a split in established chronology and the creation of a new parallel reality. Just like blowing too much air into a time balloon!

Whatever Tarantino’s Star Trek turns out to be, it’s certain that it’ll be very different from anything previously encountered in the final frontier and we can’t wait to see it.
