Terminator: Dark Fate Promo

Arnie Springs Into Action In New Terminator: Dark Fate Trailer

Despite it sharing some similarities to 2015's Genisys,  Terminator: Dark Fate sure is shaping up nicely. To its credit, James Cameron is back on board in a sense, and Linda Hamilton is returning as Sarah Connor. Arnold Schwarzenegger is there to top the bill, of course, with Edward Furlong coming back as John Connor after being succeeded by three other actors in the time since Judgment Day enjoyed its theatrical run.

With opening weekend being just over two months away now, the studio is doing its best to get us geeked for the next entry into the hallowed science fiction franchise. As such, they’ve put out a brand new trailer tonight, which can be viewed at the top of this article. After first surrendering your clothes, boots and motorcycle, be sure to give it a look.

Though it contains a lot of footage that we’ve already seen, there’s still enough here that’s fresh and it’s all pretty exciting. From slick action to a few more teases of the film’s story and, of course, Arnie himself, there’s much to enjoy in this latest preview and we’re probably not alone in saying that Dark Fate keeps looking better and better the more we see of it.

If you weren’t already aware, this is indeed a direct sequel to Judgment Day, effectively wiping the films sandwiched in between from canon. One could say Terminator is giving Halloween a run for its money in the “choose your own adventure” department, but let’s just refer to the words of director Tim Miller describing how this flick connects to the 1991 classic in the meantime:

“This will be more clear when you see the movie, but the first two movies really deal with time as a loop; what’s happening is the same thing that happened before and everybody is fighting to ensure that happens again. Jim [Cameron] had this lucky break that he only broke that rule at the end of Terminator 2 when Sarah destroys Cyberdyne, it’s the first thing that happened that hadn’t happened before, and so it was going to change the future — but no one knew how. And I don’t think the movies that came after it really explored that in a clean way like I believe we are, with true consequences, and it makes perfect sense for Sarah to be the one to face those consequences since they were her choices to begin with.”

Terminator: Dark Fate opens in theaters on November 1st, and we can hardly wait to see where the saga goes next.
