It was confirmed today that Sherlock Holmes 3 will be produced by Warner Brothers, continuing the three-way best-friendship between director Guy Ritchie and stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.

And why would such a film be made? Dare I say, “It’s elementary, my dear Watson!” The first Sherlock Holmes film grossed $208.7 million in the United States alone, and the franchise stars two of the hottest actors in Hollywood – Robert Downey and Jude Law.

The second film, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, will hit theaters on December 16. I’m not saying that it’s going to be a masterpiece, but it’s pretty difficult to make a completely awful film with Ritchie, Downey, and Law.

The sequel will once again feature Rachel McAdams while adding Noomi Rapace to the cast. (Watch the trailer here.)

Personally – I could watch any film that has Robert Downey, let alone a film where Downey plays a smarmy, period-piece-costumed detective who’s one side of a fierce bromance with Jude Law.
