Today we have the first photo of Jessica Chastain on the set of her new film Mama. The film is being written and directed by Andres Muschietti and is based on his short film.
Mama is being produced by Guillermo del Toro and will be distributed by Universal. The photo came from a Facebook page that is under the name Jessica Chastain. However, it is unclear if it is actually Chastain who is running the page.
Mama, being a horror film, is a change for Chastain, who has up until now only really done dramatic roles. In the film, Chastain plays a punk rocker who has to look after two abandoned children. The film also features Game Of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
The synopsis for Mama reads:
“Annabel and Lucas are faced with the challenge of raising his young nieces that were left alone in the forest for 5 years…. but how alone were they?”
Mama is currently filming in Toronto and will be in cinemas sometime in 2012.
