Zombie Studios, Pantierra and 505 Games have teamed together to launch Blackwater for Kinect.

The immersive, first-person shooter experience is the first on Kinect, and was developed in conjunction with former members of the Blackwater private security team.

505 Games, a global publisher of video games, announced today that Blackwater, an immersive first-person shooter (FPS) exclusive for Kinect™ for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, has shipped to North American retailers. The high-octane game was developed in conjunction with former members of the Blackwater private security team who consulted on moves, gestures and gameplay.

As the only FPS available on Kinect for Xbox 360, Blackwater reinvents the modern combat genre by giving players the ability to control gameplay using a traditional controller or with the controller-free abilities of Kinect for Xbox 360, introducing an unprecedented level of depth to the FPS genre.

Published by 505 Games, produced by Pantierra and developed by Zombie Studios, Blackwater is titled for the former name of the private security company founded in 1997 by Erik Prince, a former Navy SEAL, to provide training support to military and law enforcement agencies.

“Blackwater will have a unique appeal to gamers on the Kinect for Xbox 360 platform. The physical, visual and virtual feel of participating in a mission brings a level of excitement, realism and fun to the game that is hard to match,” said Erik Prince.

The game features more than 25 different Kinect moves as players employ real Blackwater combat tactics to knock down doors, shoot, crouch, throw grenades and use various environments for cover. Featuring officially-licensed weapons, players lead a team of Blackwater operatives as they protect inhabitants of a fictional North African town who are battling a corrupt general in order to restore peace.

Blackwater for Kinect for Xbox 360 is rated “T” for Teen by the Entertainment Software Review Board (ESRB). For more information about Blackwater, please visit the official game website at www.blackwatergame.com
