It’s official, Ron Perlman has joined the cast of Guillermo del Toro‘s Pacific Rim. The actor will join his Sons Of Anarchy step-son, Charlie Hunnam, in del Toro’s 2013 tent pole epic.

There had been speculation for quite some time on whether Perlman would once again be directed by his frequent collaborator, with Perlman saying that there would be an announcement on whether he was in or out of the film. Unfortunately however, like the majority of the cast, the name and description of the role is being kept under tight wraps.

Pacific Rim is just beginning principle photography and stars Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Clifton Collins Jr. and Heather Doerksen and will be in cinemas on May 10th, 2013.
