Thanks to the high-tech Frostbite 2.0 engine, Battlefield 3 owners will be receiving four remodeled maps from the series’ past. Referred to as the Back to Karkand Map Pack, this first piece of major downloadable content for the beautiful military shooter, will be free for some and costly for others. It’s expected to launch later this month, through online marketplaces.
Both Electronic Arts and DICE have stuck to their stated word, with the Pack’s release dates. A little while back, the two stated that it would be released sometime in December, which is exactly what is going to happen. PlayStation 3 owners will be able to test out the new maps on December 6, thanks to the one week window of exclusivity that Sony has been granted with Battlefield 3’s DLC. Due to that timed exclusivity factor, Back to Karkand will be available on PC and Xbox 360 on December 13.
If you purchased the Battlefield 3 Limited Edition at launch, then you will be able to download the pack for free. Those who did not, will be asked to purchase it for a $15 price tag.
