X-Men: First Class screenwriter Jane Goldman is currently in talks to script 20th Century Fox’s anticipated upcoming project, Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children. The movie, which is based on Ransom Riggs’ novel of the same name, will be directed by Tim Burton and produced by Chernin Entertainment.
Deadline is reporting that while Goldman is expected to be hired for Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children she will still additionally write the sequel to X-Men: First Class. That project will reunite her with the superhero prequel’s director, Matthew Vaughn. The scribe most recently adapted the upcoming Daniel Radcliffe thriller, The Woman In Black, for CBS Films.
Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children follows 16-year-old Jacob, whose childhood was filled with stories his grandfather told him about an orphanage for unusual children. Among the colorful residents are a girl who could hold fire in her hands, a girl whose feet have never touched the ground and a pair of twins who communicate without speaking.
After Jacob’s grandfather dies, he leaves behind a message for him. When Jacob travels to his grandfather’s isolated island off Whales, he discovers the abandoned remains of Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children. Exploring the orphanage, Jacob discovers the children may have been dangerous as well as peculiar, and he develops a feeling that they may still be lurking the halls.
Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children sounds like the type of unusual movie that Tim Burton thrives in directing. Combined with Jane Goldman‘s creative writing talents, the film will surely appeal to children and adults alike.
