From Harriet to The Notebook and The Last Dance, here's everything coming to America's top streaming services (Netflix, Prime, etc.) this weekend.

With more and more states seeing an uptick in coronavirus infections, a second wave of quarantine and social distancing seems to be more likely than ever before. Heck, in some areas of the country, it’s already taking place. Add to that sweltering summer heat waves, and staying indoors with your favorite streaming services doesn’t seem so bad anymore – if it ever did.

Especially when considering there are now more streaming services available than there ever have been in the past. A few years ago, people debated on whether you should subscribe to Netflix or Amazon Prime, for the most part. Now, they’re joined by a wealth of other competitors. Some, like Disney+ and HBO Max, haven proven to be admirable opponents. Others, like CBS All Access and Peacock, not so much.

Regardless of whom you subscribe to, though, there’s a solid amount of content coming to your home device this weekend, and here’s a quick overview of it.

So, what are the highlights? Well, on Saturday, Netflix will see the arrival of the tear-jerking romance The Notebook. Based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks, it tells the story of a young and happy couple, and follows them all the way into old age where Alzheimer’s divides them. Rest assured, the power of love reigns supreme in the end, even if its victory is bittersweet.

That same day, HBO Max users will be able to watch Harriet. As the name suggests, this biopic follows the life and times of Harriet Tubman, a former slave who escaped to freedom but chose to risk it all just to help others do the same. Unlike other race-based stories like Driving Miss Daisy, this one is made by a black team of creatives, and worth checking out for that reason alone.

Meanwhile, Disney Plus has X-Men: Apocalypse, which may be worth a watch for any superhero fans out there, while Hulu’s Into the Dark: The Current Occupant will surely satisfy anyone looking for horror.

Tell us, though, what will you be streaming on Netflix, Prime, Disney Plus, etc., this weekend? As usual, let us know down below.
