Okay, let’s get this straight once and for all. According to what a Sony rep has told Wired, the PS Vita will only support the ability to have one PSN account at a time after all.
First we heard that only one account will be available for use per Vita unit. Then we were told that the use of multiple accounts are possible through the use of having more than one of those obscenely expensive, Vita-specific memory cards.
It seems Sony is sticking true with the current story, which is the PSN account will be tied to both the unit itself as well as the memory card, and will therefore only allow one account.
Did you get all that? I really don’t want to explain it again, because I’m just as confused as you are.
This means that should you want to allow another account onto your precious little handheld, you’ll need to completely wipe the memory on the Vita unit itself, which is what was initially reported. What still isn’t clear is just how much data the system saves that the memory card won’t be able to. That could make the big difference here.
The PlayStation Vita is actually out in Japan this week, with North Americans getting the handheld on February 22, 2012.
