Is God Of War IV On The Way?

I don’t know what it is with composers taking the wind out of the video games they’re working on, but if one person’s resume is to be believed, we’ve got a new God of War game on the way.

Composer Timothy Williams, who’s currently working on Valve‘s Dota 2 and has worked on films such as Shark Night 3D and Sucker Punch, added God of War IV to his list of upcoming works, which has since been removed.

For those that have been paying attention, this matches up with a pair of job listings that appeared for an “unnannounced God of War title” from Sony‘s Santa Monica studio. It’s supposed to be released in Fall of 2012, which is coming around rather quickly.

I have to say, I’m slightly disappointed. I think God of War III ended perfectly. Throwing in a game after the events that occurred there seems like a stretch. After all, there’s so many other things a God of War game could focus on, like the two PSP spin-offs. Much like what I thought when Halo 4 was revealed at E3 last year, I think the franchise should either be left alone, or look into new ground.

What say you, gamers? Do you think there’s any truth to these rumors?
