Saving The World Isn’t All You’ll Do In Final Fantasy XIII-2

If you're like me, you too have wondered exactly how a Kingdom Hearts reject, a pink-haired piece of jailbait and a floating happy meal toy would wind down after a hard day of traveling through time and saving the universe from collapsing on itself in Final Fantasy XIII-2. The answer is clearly gambling, answering a random homeless man's questions and solving puzzles in space. IN SPACE.

If you’re like me, you too have wondered exactly how a Kingdom Hearts reject, a pink-haired piece of jailbait and a floating happy meal toy would wind down after a hard day of traveling through time and saving the universe from collapsing on itself in Final Fantasy XIII-2. The answer is clearly gambling, answering a random homeless man’s questions and solving puzzles in space. IN SPACE.

One of the biggest complaints of the original Final Fantasy XIII was the linearity. There wasn’t a whole lot to do aside from progressing the story and the occasional hunt for monsters. The sequel changes that with a host of minigames and other distractions that seem just a bit petty when you’re tasked with preventing a planet from falling on another planet, but hey, those slot machines have been lucky this week.

Among the things you can do, you can seek out Captain Cryptic and answer his questions about the world in order to win special prizes. You could also hunt down Temporal Anomalies, which are weird points in the space-time continuum that require some light puzzle solving in order to get home. Or you could hit up Serendipity, the dedicated time and place for all things that you’d think would be illegal for kids of Noel’s and Serah’s age. It’s here where you can try your luck on the slot machines or take part in the glorious return of Chocobo Racing.

But don’t take my word for it, see all this glamorous splendor for yourself

I have to say, I’ve been working through the game for review for the past few days, and I’m really enjoying it. It feels much like an older Final Fantasy game, and that’s a great thing. But you’ll have to read my full review next week in order to learn more.

What say you, gamers? Is this week gonna be hard on you? Only a few more days!
