The upcoming title, Aliens: Colonial Marines, developed by Gearbox Studios, was delayed by Gearbox and its publisher, SEGA without much of an explanation. The official site was changed to alter the release date from “spring 2012” to “fall 2012” without a word from SEGA on the matter until later in the day.

SEGA and Gearbox then released a statement to various gaming outlets, including Game Informer, regarding the delay, saying this:

Aliens: Colonial Marines is a process of creativity and invention and those don’t necessarily follow the structure of an assembly line. While setting clear goals, deadlines and predictions is helpful, they are often subjective. We don’t want to sacrifice the creative process just for the sake of following a blue print. We prefer to have the creative discovery shape that blue print because our goal is to make a great game, and we are prioritizing this goal over the previously targeted date.

What do you think, gamers? Disappointed to see the release pushed back, or excited that the delay is being used to further improve the title? Let us know below.
