The Hangover director Todd Phillips is recovering from the disappointing reviews for The Hangover Part II by developing four new comedies. The new movies include stories about drug traffickers and arms dealers, as well as an adaptation of web shorts series and an action-based comedy.

/Film is reporting that all of the films will be produced through Warner Bros. and Phillips’ Green Hat Films production banner.

The first film is titled Mule, an adaption of Tony D’Souza‘s novel of the same name. It follows a young couple that turns to drug trafficking to earn a living during the recession.

The next project is said to be titled Arms and the Dudes, which is based on a Rolling Stone article by Guy Lawson. The story follows two stoners who become big-time arms dealers in Miami Beach until they suddenly have everything taken away by the Pentagon.

Phillips is also developing Million Dollar Strong, which is inspired by the web short of the same name. The web short follows Mike O’Connell and The Hangover‘s Ken Jeong as a rap duo. There’s no word yet what the storyline will focus on, but O’Connell is working on the script with Peter Kline.

The last film Phillips is working on is titled The Island. While the director is reuniting with his Due Date screenwriter Adam Sztykiel, there is no word yet on what the plotline will be about.

Phillips may end up just producing some of the films through Green Hat Films, instead of directing all of them. However, if he is able to recapture the humor and male bonding elements that made The Hangover and Old School so funny, then we could be in for a treat.
