This week, So You Think You Can Dance? brought us the Atlanta auditions and while last week may have had it all, this week delivered some very strong contestants who gave brilliant auditions. Considering that Atlanta is home to season eight's winner Melanie Moore, I really shouldn't have expected anything else.
This week, Duets brought us a tearjerker of an episode with songs that inspired the contestants who chose them. What I loved about the episode was that the amateurs who ranked highest were not merely the best performers, but also gave the most honest and heartfelt performances.
A genius nerd and fast paced action, the combination is deadly. Or is it? According to Fast and Furious director Rob Cohen, who is planning on giving one of history's greatest minds his own action franchise, the seemingly odd combination could work out. And no, I'm not talking about Einstein or Shakespeare when I say genius nerd. I'm talking about the great Sir Isaac Newton.
Antoine Fuqua's 2007 film Shooter was not exactly memorable. Unbeknownst to many though, the film was based on a book, placing it into the category of book-to-film transition films that didn't exactly make the cut. That's why it comes as a bit of a shock to learn that a sequel of sorts is in the works.
Aside from being a stunning finale, last night's episode of Game Of Thrones accomplished two major objectives. First, it reeled in a record number of viewers for the series and secondly, it increased viewership for other HBO shows.
Deadline is reporting that Michael Emerson will join the cast of Woody Allen's new untitled film. Emerson, who is best known for his portrayal of Ben Linus on Lost, will shoot scenes in the United States for Allen's new film while his TV show Person of Interest is on hiatus.
Duets is quickly growing on me as a reality talent show. Quddus is quickly becoming a host that I would want as a best friend, Robin Thicke is continually making me laugh, Kelly Clarkson is improving on her judging skills and I am even beginning to like the big white Sci-Fi judging chairs. Oh, and let's not forget to mention that John Legend is as smooth as ever and Jennifer Nettles is now giving dancing advice.
20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios have revealed the voice cast for their new 3D animated film Epic. While the title of the film may be atrociously uncreative, the members of the cast are anything but. I am truly amazed at how many stars (film and music) Fox was able to line up.
Cat Deeley set the tone perfectly for the So You Think You Can Dance? Los Angeles auditions as she stated in her opening lines that "Here...you can have it all." From passionate dancing from the heart to moments of absolute hilarity, the second episode of season nine truly had it all.
The world of television and movies is captivated at the moment with a return to fairy tales and I personally couldn't be happier. With the emergence and success of Once Upon A Time and Grimm on television and Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman in theaters, it makes perfect sense that Disney, the entertainment home of fairy tales, is currently working on Maleficent, the tale of Sleeping Beauty told from the perspective of "the princess' evil nemesis, Maleficent."
