These days, it doesn't come as a surprise when Activision unveils an expensive collector's set for one of its Call of Duty games. After all, the publisher has been doing it for years now and is always looking to up the ante.
Through press release means, Konami has revealed that armchair footballers who pre-order Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 through Gamestop/EB Games will be able to choose from one of two available steelbooks. Unsurprisingly, one contains imagery pertaining to Europe's ever-popular UEFA Champions League, while the alternative option features decals based on the Copa Libertadores league, which is based in South America and Mexico. That way, fans of both camps will be able to prove their footie loyalty through game collection presentation.
Now that Borderlands 2 is less than a month away from bringing its addictive role-playing gameplay to retail store shelves, Gamestop's exclusive pre-order bonus has been revealed.
After being a timed Microsoft exclusive for a large portion of this sweltering summer, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD has made its way onto the PlayStation Network, allowing a new group of armchair boarders to take a trip back to the extreme 90s. It's currently available for $14.99, and is certainly a worthwhile purchase for longtime fans of the series, as well as newcomers who are looking to see what all of the fuss is about.
Gamers who've yet to pick up and/or play NAMCO BANDAI's incredibly difficult Dark Souls may want to wait until October before doing so. That is, if they plan to do so through console means, because the spooky month will bring with it Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition. Available through Steam now, the new version of the popular RPG contains its core campaign, as well as its new Artorias of the Abyss DLC.
Like me, you're probably itching to find out what will happen next in Telltale Games' interactive and episodic version of The Walking Dead - a downloadable experience which will surely be in contention for some awards at the end of this year. Thankfully, the wait for The Walking Dead: Episode 3 - Long Road Ahead won't be much longer, with the company's public representative, Job Stauffer, having taken to Facebook to state that it will launch "very soon". By that, I sincerely hope that he means it will drop sometime before the end of this month.
Despite its noted downfalls and deficiencies, Risen 2: Dark Waters is a relatively enjoyable RPG, although its campaign takes time to blossom. However, its dated design and lack of handholding cement its status as a niche title.
Revealed during June's Electronic Entertainment Expo, Star Wars 1313 promises to show us the unscrupulous side of the planet Coruscant. You see, there's a dark city hidden underneath the idyllic surface buildings that we saw in the iconic film series, and it happens to house the most ruthless and unethical of all of the galaxy's inhabitants. Therein, one will interact with members of the region's criminal underworld as a bounty hunter.
If you're hoping to play through Pid and its beautiful-looking puzzle platforming stages with a friend, make sure that pal happens to be someone you can communicate with easily, as well as someone you can trust. That's because the upcoming downloadable title will force its co-operative undertakers to work together, using two separately-manned beams of light. As you can surely appreciate, that will require a lot of patience.
