Ever since the winter finale of Gotham aired in late January, things have been uncomfortably quiet, but, thankfully, all of that changes today as yet another one of the deadliest villains from the Batman mythos has boarded the show.
I’m starting to think the old saying “what a long, strange trip it’s been” certainly applies to Dark Knight III: The Master Race. Since the series kicked off in late 2015, we’ve been treated to a new chapter every few months that sees Batman and his cohorts forced to deal with the threat of the invading Kandorians in what will assuredly be remembered as a definitive tale.
It appears that this spring will have no shortage of excitement for X-Men fans. Not only is Old Man Logan getting a new creative team in a matter of months, but Inhumans vs. X-Men will soon be behind us paving the way for ResurrXion. As such, Marvel will be releasing an oversized one-shot in a few weeks to kick things off in the form of X-Men: Prime #1.
Earlier this week, word came down concerning some of the first details surrounding Deadpool: Bad Blood, an original graphic novel co-written and illustrated by none other than Rob Liefeld (Chris Sims and Chad Bowers will be joining him), the very man who created the Merc with a Mouth.
While Marvel and DC battle to see who wins at the box office, it’s virtually inarguable that it's the latter who dominates the small screen. Now having taken over four nights of the week when it comes to prime time programming, serialized superhero storytelling has swiftly become a cornerstone in the lives of many a geek these days.
I can say with the utmost confidence that the Superman family of titles are among the best DC has to offer right now. Not only do they boast some of the finest creative talent the publisher currently employs, but they also contain some of the young Rebirth era's most compelling mysteries. Needless to say, any time a new issue of Superman or Action Comics arrive, it's guaranteed to be placed at the top of my reading pile.
Perhaps you have heard by now that adult coloring books are apparently all the rage these days, as not only do grown folk enjoy testing their artistic skills, but it also provides a therapeutic experience for many. In fact, it's very possible that you could be taking a break from putting pencil or marker to paper right now in order to read this. And, if you are, I swear that I can't see you.
When it’s all said and done, 2017 may very well prove to be the year of the grizzled superhero. Not only is Logan set to arrive in theaters this weekend amid high critical acclaim, but the comic book series known as Old Man Logan aims to keep on going strong when a new creative team boards the title in June.
When the Death of Hawkman miniseries was originally announced, it was billed as Hawkman/Adam Strange: Out of Time before being rechristened as what we now know it to be. It stands to reason that the change was made to boost sales, although it risked spoiling the endgame.
You know, the funny thing about crossover miniseries such as Death of X and Inhumans vs. X-Men is that they probably wouldn’t have happened if not for the delicate situation involving Disney and Fox when it comes to film rights.
