After months of rumoured news and speculative tidbits on Terminator Genisys, in the past two days we've since had an absolute wealth of official information. Courtesy of EW, the overall plot for the movie has been revealed, a crop of uninspired promo shots and a few scene-specific spoilers. All or nothing, right? Well, despite the fact that the Internet has been less than enthused about the materials, we can still harbour a shred of hope that it won't turn out like Terminator Salvation. Once more from the exclusive clutches of EW (via /Film), we can now reveal a handful of storyboards from the movie.
Danny Boyle's upcoming Steve Jobs biopic is picking up steam over at Sony, as the project continues to attract a wealth of big-buck talent. Just recently Christian Bale was confirmed to be tackling the role of the Apple founder himself after Leonardo DiCaprio left to pursue other interests. Now The Wrap reports that two new stars are apparently circling the movie; Seth Rogen and Jessica Chastain.
Out of the four studios concerned with comic book movie adaptations, it's safe to say that Sony is not leading the charge. The studio's rebooted Spider-Man franchise was ushered in too soon after Sam Raimi's trilogy wrapped up, and it has suffered dire consequences as a result. If the material had worked and audiences' interests were suitably piqued, Sony's eagerness to reboot the webhead would have made no difference. But then The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hit - and suffered an onslaught of critical derision, not to mention a dissatisfying box office return. Now, it seems Sony is attempting to beat a dead horse by reviving Spider-Man via an entirely new idea, under the title Glass Ceiling.
The second season of HBO's True Detective has already locked in its male leads, and now Deadline reports that four new names have entered negotiations. With a Friday table read - wherein the cast read through the script - in place, it makes sense for news to leak of who'll exactly be involved. Currently finalising a deal to secure a regular role is Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes, Eden Lake), with Abigail Spencer (This Is Where I Leave You), Leven Ramblin (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) and Michael Irby (Almost Human) in the running for supporting parts.
The Coen Brothers are set to tackle Hollywood's Golden Age with their unique mischievous style that's earned the pair a reputation for crafting cinematic masterpieces. Their next pic, Hail, Caesar!, is already showing signs of replicating the pair's earlier successes, and now we know for certain when we'll be able to see it!
Foxcatcher is still two weeks away from landing in theatres, and so in order to remind you that it's the best film you'll ever see, a brand new poster has arrived! It's hardly new behaviour for a studio to brandish last minute marketing materials with quotations from positive early reviews, but it does detract from the serious visages of Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo. The three leads stand proud before some eagle-inspired artwork and generally look stoic. But don't take our word for it, check it out for yourself below.
You might have been wondering why there's been a dearth of reports this week about new film-to-TV adaptations. Don't worry, that dry spell has ended as Paramount announced that they'll be hauling out yet another title from its film back catalogue. Bringing us the news is The Wrap, who are reporting that the 1980 flick, American Gigolo, will be getting the TV treatment.
The status of Kevin Smith's third outing for convenience store workers Dante and Randal has shifted considerably over the last few years. Originally, Smith abandoned the idea of a big screen feature, and proposed to round out the trilogy in a comic book series. Then, it was announced it'd be a TV show. After months of back and forth indecision, the filmmaker committed to making Clerks III as a live-action film, which seems to finally be making some headway.
Steven Spielberg's take on Daniel H. Wilson's frankly brilliant novel, Robopocalypse, technically should have already hit screens by now. The anticipated robot-apocalypse (what, you didn't get that from the title?) sci-fi tale was gearing up to head into production in 2012, with Chris Hemsworth, Anne Hathaway and Ben Whishaw all attached. And then... it sorta fell apart. But fear not, because now we have word from Wilson that all hope is not yet lost!
You may not have heard of director Shawn Christensen, but there's one thing you should know about him - he's an Oscar winner. Back in 2013, the filmmaker bagged the Best Live Action Short golden statuette for Curfew. Embracing the Academy's reception of his little movie, he took his victory as a sign that he should adapt the gritty drama into a feature. Now, one year later, the full-length version, retitled Before I Disappear, looks set to follow in the footsteps of the original.
