There has been much Oscar buzz around Quentin Tarantino's latest film, Django Unchained, for months now, but until recently, there was no actual reactions to tell us if it was deserved or not. However, that has started to change as yesterday the film finally started screening for critics, and now we have the first reactions from those who were lucky enough to see it early.
We're entering the home stretch now with merely two weeks let to go before the first part of Peter Jackson's epic adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit is unleashed. At this point, you could well be sick of the flood of marketing materials for the film, wishing instead that it would just open already, but you can be sure that we'll be seeing lots more as we count down these last few days.
17 days and counting. That’s how close we are to the opening of the first part of Peter Jackson’s epic adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. It’s felt like an incredibly long road to get to it, but in merely two and a half weeks, the fans will finally get to see one of the most anticipated movies of the last few years.
Lawless had great potential, but due to a poor storytelling technique that causes the film to be rather dull, we merely end up with a film that just looks good.
Up until this point in the awards race, the film that seemed most likely to take the big prize was Ben Affleck's crowd-pleasing Argo, a film that has almost unanimously been praised by critics and audiences. However, there remained a few films that were still up in the air, with one of the biggest being Tom Hooper's upcoming adaptation of the musical Les Miserables.
Usually when we get a movie with aliens visiting Earth, the focus tends to be on the aliens taking over the world or an entire city, like we've seen over and over again in films like Independence Day, Skyline, and Battle: Los Angeles. What we don't get that often is a focus on one family and how it affects them, but that's exactly what we get with the new thriller Dark Skies.
What we've seen thus far for the upcoming remake/reimagining of The Evil Dead has me rather excited for it. The trailer gives us an idea of just how gory and over the top the film will be, which will no doubt make several people happy while turning some off to it. It also looks like there's not going to be much room for a sense of humor like in the original (perhaps in the possible sequel?)
As we get closer and closer to the release of the first part of Peter Jackson's epic adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, it seems like we've been getting more and more material for the film. Just the other day, we unveiled the entire score and closing song for you listening pleasure, and not long before that, we had a massive gallery of behind the scenes photos showing everything from set designs to concept drawings.
With the conclusion of the awful Twilight saga finally here, studios are looking to find the next big film franchise for teens to go gaga over. One attempt to do so is coming in the form of an adaptation of the book Beautiful Creatures, the first in a supposedly popular series of novels.
