In light of a disastrous fiscal quarter that followed an only slightly less disastrous year, SFX Entertainment has appointed Life In Color Founder & CEO Sebastian Solano the new CEO of TomorrowWorld parent company ID&T / Made Event. The news accompanies other recent statements indicating that SFX is resorting to desperate measures to ensure the solvency of its brands - although TomorrowWorld's organizers still have yet to announce any kind of investigation as to the actual causes of the transportation issues that endangered thousands of the festival's attendees.
Knife Party's kept us waiting quite a while now for their new album, Trigger Warning, but at least they're delivering some gems along the way. The Australian duo used their Diplo and Friends mix to debut a couple of tracks from the upcoming effort, in addition to an eclectic variety of music that perhaps indicates what fans can expect from the album.
Remember how when you played telephone as a child, the message being whispered from person to person would end up completely indiscernible before finding its way back to its originator? That's what's happened to Jack Ü's "Where Are Ü Now" with Skrillex's flip of Marshmello's remix, and we're not complaining one bit.
We weren't expecting a series of rapid-fire releases leading up to Justin Bieber's upcoming album, Purpose, but with how quickly he and Skrillex have followed up "Sorry" with another track from the effort, it looks like they've got no shortage of material to tease out. The pop/EDM power duo have now released "I'll Show You," an angst-laden song with a markedly lower tempo than the one that came out before it.
HARD Day of the Dead took place at the Fairplex in Pomona, California this weekend, and in light of the untimely events that transpired during HARD Summer, the police spared no expense in combating illegal drug use at the event. In addition to redoubling law enforcement presence (which resulted in a staggering 310 arrests), organizers and officials also took a page out of organizations like DanceSafe's book by incorporating harm reduction measures as well.
It's been a little while since we've seen deadmau5 really take the gloves off during a nasty Twitter exchange, but we can't even think of the last time Skrillex matched his level of tenacity. A recent back and forth between the two was seemingly initiated by Skrillex, who - despite being well known for his humility and soft-spokenness - called the mau5trap founder a "sad old washed up asshole [sic]," among other things.
After a bitter and well-publicized split with Dutch EDM label Spinnin' Records, Martin Garrix has ended a relative lull in releases with a track available for free download titled "Poison." I've been writing all year that I was anxious to see Garrix arrive at a more mature sound as a result of his musical identity crisis, and this track is the most sincere piece of music he's put out to date.
To put it simply, Armin Van Buuren's sixth studio album, Embrace, is just about the best you could expect from a full-length effort released by an artist at his level of success.
The good thing about Firebeatz is that you pretty much know exactly what to expect from the Dutch duo based on their stage name alone. If your musical yearnings are satisfied by songs designed to hold the short attention span of electronic music's fair-weather fans, then you've come to the right place because, like the vast majority of their other discography, I can't imagine this track serving much of any other purpose.
