Mad Men Review: “A Day’s Work” (Season 7, Episode 2)
Using Valentine’s Day as a setting to explore the ennui and loneliness of its characters is not a new or particularly original conceit for a television program. Heck, even Mad Men has already done it, in the first episode of season two. However, the folks at Sterling Cooper and Partners – in the office, in the small L.A. branch, slumming around his apartment waiting to be rehired – are just not feeling the love this week. So, the February 14 time setting feels just right.

Turn Review: “Of Cabbages And Kings” (Season 1, Episode 3)
It is a pity that AMC decided to air their newest drama, Turn, in the same timeslot as HBO’s crowning series, Game of Thrones. The two shows have much in common and can benefit from sharing an audience on different nights of the week. Both series are filled with intrigue and action and deal with characters whose loyalties and alliances try to stay strong even in the worst of times. Meanwhile, friends can turn on one another in both Westeros and the northeastern United States circa-1776. However, the fantasy behemoth is probably taking away much of the glory from Craig Silverstein’s historical drama.

Blue Is The Warmest Color Director Will Adapt Coming-of-Age Tale The Wound
After winning the Palme D'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and sending art-house cinema fans into a tizzy over the three-hour coming-of-age lesbian romance, Blue is the Warmest Color, Abdellatif Kechiche has decided on a new project. The Film Stage reports that the director will adapt The Wound (La Blessure in French), a semi-autobiographical novel from François Bégaudeau, best known as the screenwriter for another French Palme D'Or winner, 2008's The Class.

Sharon Stone, Bill Pullman And Tony Hale Join American Ultra
I think that there's a rule in Hollywood that movies that start with the word "American" must have amazing ensemble casts (see: American Hustle, American Beauty, American Pie, American Gangster, American Graffiti). This week, the action-comedy American Ultra adds three new members to an already bustling line-up: Sharon Stone, Bill Pullman and Arrested Development's Tony Hale. They join Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Justified's Walton Goggins, Topher Grace and John Leguizamo in a film for Project X director Nima Nourizadeh.

Trailer For God’s Pocket, With Philip Seymour Hoffman, Spoils A Bit Too Much
Philip Seymour Hoffman's death in early February is still casting a large shadow over Hollywood. Josh Hutcherson gave a heartfelt tribute to his Catching Fire co-star at the MTV Movie Awards last night, a trailer for A Most Wanted Man, the critically acclaimed drama starring Hoffman that debuted at Sundance, hit the Internet on Friday, and now, the trailer for another Sundance film with the late Oscar-winner is online. Despite a stunning ensemble cast, though, our first look at God's Pocket reveals a bit too much about the plot, unfortunately.

Gone Girl Teaser Poster May Puzzle Those Who Are Unfamiliar With The Book
David Fincher's Gone Girl is set to be one of this fall's biggest films, and its early October release date, falling on the same weekend as Fincher's 2010 drama The Social Network, means that the studio is hoping for a potential Oscar run. However, the release date is not the only cue Gone Girl is taking from The Social Network. That film had a terrific teaser poster, with a memorable slogan ("You don't get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies") that teased what the film was about without explaining too much. It also had a Facebook menu on the side, although it was a feature that was hard to examine from a distance. Likewise, Gone Girl's poster has a mysterious tagline and requires the viewer to get in close to read the snippets of news crawl at the bottom.
