Square Enix has just released a new collection of screenshots for Dragon Quest XI, which is releasing next year on PS4, 3DS and Nintendo Switch. The pictures reveal some key visual differences between the high-resolution PS4 version and the portable 3DS version, with similar locations and characters obviously appearing quite a bit less detailed on the small and low-res screens of Nintendo's nearly six-year-old handheld. On that system, they're also sporting decidedly more chibi, old-school proportions — like the sort seen in this year's remake of Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past.
Listeners who kept an ear out while enjoying Nickelodeon's latest Animation Podcast may have discovered a link between the venerable animation studio and another "Big N," namely Nintendo. At 31:52 in the video above, Fred Seibert — the namesake of Frederator Studios, who's worked on such beloved franchises as The Fairly OddParents and Adventure Time — talks about the studio moving forward on a project involving "one of the most world-famous video games."
