Nintendo's legendary game designer, Shigeru Miyamoto, told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview that he is really "enjoying" working on Pikmin 3 for the Wii U, and because of the system's features it will be "closer" to his original idea for the IP.
Speaking to G4, Epic Games' vice president Mark Reign revealed that the company will be publicly showing the successor to Unreal Engine 3, appropriately named Unreal Engine 4, before the end of 2012 and promised it will have a "profound" effect.
This past week at PlayStation Destination, Canadian video game retailer Future Shop revealed a poster for a LittleBigPlanet kart racing game for the PlayStation 3. Instead of staying silent, or giving the standard, "We don't comment on rumors or speculation" line, Sony surprisingly confirmed on their Twitter account that LittleBigPlanet Karting "is in fact in development."
This past week, Double Fine's CEO Tim Schafer launched a new Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to fiance the development and distribution of a new point-and-click adventure game. The initial goal for the campaign was set at a modest (in terms of video game development costs) $300,000 for the game and an additional $100,000 to fund a documentary of the development process. It's now three days into the month long campaign and to say that it has been a success would be a massive understatement.
