EA: Even Solo Players Like SimCity’s Always-On Connected Experience
After a week of SimCity players achieving the "impossible" by successfully running the game offline, Maxis general manager Lucy Bradshaw has once again taken to the game's blog to provide some "straight answers" about the title's always-on design. Bradshaw did not address the discovery that the game can actually be played offline, however, she did explain/spin that the connected design was not due to DRM. She also revealed that even people who want to play SimCity solo like the game's always-on experience.

Pokemon Rumble U Toys And Trailer Revealed
We caught wind that Nintendo was planning to develop Pokemon Rumble U into a Skylanders-esk video game/toy line a couple of days ago, however, it took until today for The Big N to reveal exactly what they were planning for the line of collectible figures. Now that we have seen them, via the game's debut trailer, we are a little perplexed as to why they decided to take such a lackluster approach.

Maxis Finally Admits There Are SimCity AI Problems, Promises To Patch
Shortly after SimCity's server problems were resolved, and customers were able to actually play the game they purchased, users started to discover that the AI used to control traffic and services in their cities was so poorly designed that it verged on being broken. After a short (but extremely frustrating) silence from Maxis, the developer has acknowledged the shortcomings and promised to fix them in a future patch.

Crytek Authorizes Fan-Made TimeSplitters Rewind For PC
Crytek has confirmed that they have authorized the development of a new TimeSplitters game for the PC, titled TimeSplitters Rewind, and are providing a free copy of the company's CryEngine 3 for use on the project. The title is being developed by a team of fans that includes a number of former members of Free Radical Design (the original developer of the cult-classic first-person shooter).

Disney Infinity Pushed Back To August Launch
The Walt Disney Company has announced that they have delayed the launch of their Skylanders-esk game, Disney Infinity, from its original June 2013 release window, to August 18th in North America and August 20th internationally. Disney Interactive co-president John Pleasants revealed that the two month delay was due to an "opportunity" rather than a necessity.

Japanese Vita Sales Toped 3DS For The First Time Last Week
For the first time ever, Sony's PlayStation Vita narrowly outsold the 3DS in Japan last week with 63,581 units sold (up slightly from 62K sold in the prior week), compared to 61,008 units for Nintendo's handheld (down from 77K in the prior week). In addition to finally topping Nintendo, this brings weekly PS Vita sales almost up to the level that they were briefly at after Sony launched the handheld back in December 2011.
