[Update] SimCity Users Complain Of Broken Traffic AI And Fake Sims Populations
With SimCity's server/DRM problems mostly behind it, and users finally able to get in and play the game they purchased, this should be a relatively happy time for SimCity fans who have endured far too much over the game's launch period. Sadly, it is starting to appear as if all those initial problems were just the calm before a much larger storm, as many users are starting to complain about poor Traffic AI and claiming that Electronic Arts may have lied about the theoretical Sim population sizes.

Xi3 Refutes Valve’s Piston Claims, Says They Were “Asked” To Build The PC Console
The mystery surrounding the development of Xi3's Piston PC console took an interesting (and highly entertaining) turn this morning, as Jason Sullivan, the company's founder and CEO, has publicly refuted Valve's claims that they had nothing to do with the Piston hardware. A press release sent out by Xi3 Corporation today claims that it was Valve who initially asked the company to build the $1,000 Piston console.

Rumor: Maxis Insider Claims SimCity Could Easily Be Offline
Ever since the first server problems with Maxis' SimCity popped up on launch day many frustrated customers have wondered exactly why it was that Electronic Arts would not let them play the traditionally single-player only game offline. EA has plainly stated that it is impossible for SimCity to run in an offline mode because the game was built as "an online interconnected world". Maxis general manager Lucy Bradshaw even went on record stating that the “way the game works… it wouldn’t be possible to make the game offline without a significant amount of engineering work by our team.” Despite those claims, we are now hearing reports that SimCity's servers actually don't do many calculations, and the game is playable up until the DRM requests a server connection.
