Just a few short years ago the New York Knicks seemed like they could do nothing right, going through disgruntled player after disgruntled player. The Knicks haven’t had a winning team since the days of Starbury! Now, not only are the Knicks an impressive 16-9 at 6th in the Eastern Conference, they are currently on an 8 game winning streak.
Last week UFC commissioner, Dana White, made a claim that fighter Georges St-Pierre is the most famous athlete to ever come out of Canada. This statement instantly raised the question, what about Wayne Gretzky?
This year’s first overall selection John Wall and last year’s first overall pick Blake Griffin are both rookies in the 2010-2011 season. Although this same event occurred with Rose and Oden, it is still rare for two first overall picks to experience their rookie year together. Wall is a speedy point guard with fast hands and faster feet. Griffin is a strong power forward with thunderous dunks and a great mid-range jump shot. Who is better?
Four time MVP Peyton Manning had another interception filled game Sunday throwing 4 picks against the Cowboys, who are under .500 and just had a coaching change. This is following another 4 interception game and a 3 interception game against the Chargers and Patriots. This strikes the question, is Manning starting the decline of his career or is this just a mere trip up and he will come back either this or next season just as strong as he was before? Manning’s interception woes can be attributed to many different factors; the bad playing of his offensive line, his injured running back, the fact that the backup running back is terrible, his injured receivers and tight end, coaching, or just a Manning problem.
The second update on all-star voting just came out and the only player to achieve over 300,000 votes thus far is the Penguins centre and this season’s best player so far, Sidney Crosby. Crosby has 24 goals and 24 assists, totalling 48 points. If those numbers were projected over an 82 game season they would amount to over 65 goals and over 65 assists, which adds up to over 130 total points. The last season a player scored over 130 points was the 1995-1996 season, where Lemieux and Jagr both achieved that mark totalling 161 and 149 points respectively. Since the lockout Joe Thornton was the closest to 130 points with 125 points in the 2005-2006 season.

The New England Patriots, led by 6 foot 4 inch quarterback Tom Brady, are currently tied with the New York Jets for the top spot in the AFC East, AFC, and the entire NFL. The 9-2 Patriots recently traded away one of the top receivers of all time, Randy Moss, but that hasn’t slowed them down at all.
