Fans of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg have been following the slow meander towards the final installment of Wright’s loose Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy which began way back when with Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz. It’s been a long time in coming, but now we have word that the final installment The World's End has had its US release day moved from late October to August 23, 2013.
I was indeed a young-ish person in the 90s – although I hasten to add that my teenage years were spent in the 00s. But like every 90s kid, I owned far too copies of R.L. Stine’s ridiculously popular Goosebumps series. Stine was basically the Stephen King of the pre-pubescent set. So it is with both excitement and a teeny bit of trepidation that I discover that Stine’s Goosebumps is all set to come to the big screen, with director Rob Letterman set to helm.

The recent rumors concerning Emma Watson and the Fifty Shades Of Grey movie have been dispelled. Watson has stated unequivocally that she will NOT be appearing as Anastasia Steele in the filmed adaptation of the popular book series.
I’m going out on a limb here and saying that everyone in Hollywood is going to appear in Anchorman: The Legend Continues. That’s certainly the ways it’s feeling right now, given the number of people they have been adding to the cast list every single day. According to Deadline, the latest additions to the already impressive cast of the Anchorman sequel are those of Greg Kinnear and Josh Lawson.
Are we going through a new sword and sandals period? We are soon to be gifted with Darren Aronofsky’s take on the Noah story, Ridley Scott is in talks to do Exodus at Fox, Paul W.S. Anderson is taking on Pompeii, and for a long while Steven Spielberg was attached to Moses film Gods And Kings. Now we learn that Spielberg is dropping out of the picture in favor of Robopocalypse, because big robots are much more interesting than the Old Testament. What’s more, this year’s Oscar winner Ang Lee has expressed some serious interest in Gods And Kings.
Sometime about a thousand years ago, I remember reading that Disney had ahold of the rights to the children’s book Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. I also remember that Steve Carell was set to star in it as poor little Alexander’s father. Then I forgot all about it and went on with my life, entirely oblivious to what was going on with that one. Now I have learned that director Miguel Arteta is going to direct the film
While I was left unimpressed by two out of three installments of the original chronological X-Men franchise films, my heart did indeed do a leap of joy for X-Men: First Class. With just about everybody signing on for the sequel, X-Men: Days Of Future Past, we’re gearing up for one hell of a film. Now we can add Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler to the list of people coming back for the sequel.
With the verdicts on the Evil Dead remake in and largely positive, especially from the all-important horror fan sect, it is only natural that we should begin talking more seriously about the future of the franchise. Sam Raimi said last week that there was a distinct possibility of a proper Evil Dead 4. Now Rob Tapert, Raimi’s longtime-producer, has tried to clarify things. Sort of. Tapert claims that Evil Dead 4 would actually be Army Of Darkness 2.
Most people who like watching things that are funny were left unimpressed by Horrible Bosses. It was a film that inexplicably starred Jason Sudeikis as a lady-killer, made me dislike Jason Bateman, and managed to waste Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Spacey AND Colin Farrell, all in one swoop. But it apparently made $200 million at the box office, which means … Horrible Bosses 2!
If there’s something this world needs more of, it’s Seth MacFarlane. After his not even remotely interesting turn as Oscars host, it appears that we will not be getting rid of the Family Guy creator any time soon. There must be something good in the script for his latest film, A Million Days To Die In The West, because now two more excellent actors have joined the cast list: Liam Neeson and Giovanni Ribisi.
