The Berlin International Film Festival is now well underway and deals are being made all over the place. We've already told you about new projects for the likes of Tom Hanks, Oscar Isaac and Henry Cavill, among others, and now, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Dave Bautista has found his next film.
With larger than life heroes like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and more, Justice League is already going to be pretty busy as it is. Throw in numerous supporting characters as well, and you've got to wonder if Zack Snyder is going to be able to juggle everything in a satisfying manner. That remains to be seen, but one person he won't have to worry about is Daily Planet Editor-in-chief Perry White, as it's now been confirmed that Laurence Fishburne will not be in the film.
While Marvel hasn't had the best luck with their television shows on ABC, the studio's efforts on Netflix are an entirely different story. Starting with Daredevil back in 2015, it's been one hit after another for them on the streaming service, with the street-level heroes proving to be immediate fan favorites. There's still one more character left to get his own series, and that's Iron Fist. That will soon be rectified though as Danny Rand will punch his way onto Netflix next month, at which point all eyes will then turn towards The Defenders.
After appearing in two huge blockbusters in the form of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and X-Men: Apocalypse, it looks like Oscar Isaac is hoping to get back to some smaller scale stuff. Sure, he does have Star Wars: The Last Jedi releasing at the end of the year, but he's also lent his talents to Annihilation and Suburbicon recently. The former sees him reteam with his Ex Machina director Alex Garland, while the latter has him working under George Clooney.
Earlier tonight, Marvel dropped a bomb when they released an exciting new look behind the scenes of Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Infinity War. It didn't arrive with any new footage, which was understandable given that the film just entered production, but it did reveal some interesting new concept art showing off Thor, Rocket, Thanos and more. That aside though, it was the comments made by the cast and crew who were interviewed here which really got us going.
Though it was all but confirmed, we can now tell you with 100% certainty that Spider-Man will be in Avengers: Infinity War. We know this because Robert Downey Jr. hosted a Facebook Live session earlier today where his camera man for the Q&A session was revealed to be none other than Tom Holland.
When it comes to keeping a lid on things, few do it better than Game of Thrones. Over the years, HBO's hit fantasy series has delivered one shocking moment after another and each and every time, they leave audiences stunned (even those who've read the source material). Just how does the show keep such a tight lid on everything though? With such a rabid fanbase, spoilers are bound to leak out ahead of time, right?
When fans of Ridley Scott's seminal sci-fi classic found out that a sequel was in the works, they weren't overly ecstatic at the prospect, but when it was announced that Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Arrival) was going to be behind the camera for Blade Runner 2049, stances were immediately softened. An atmospheric first teaser also went down pretty well, but even still, there's a bit of apprehension at the thought of anyone following in Scott's footsteps and building on the relatively self-contained plot of the original.
Variety is reporting tonight that Westworld star Thandie Newton has boarded the upcoming Han Solo spinoff in an undisclosed role. She'll join Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clarke, among others. Not a bad cast, eh? Coming off a terrific turn in HBO's hit sci-fi series, we imagine the actress will have a decent sized part as she's hotter than ever right now, but unfortunately, there are no further details on her casting at this time.
Some exciting news coming out of Germany today, where the 67th International Berlin Film Festival is currently underway. Deals are being made left, right and center and now Deadline has word that Sony Pictures has swooped in to acquire the worldwide rights to Greyhound, Tom Hanks' new WWII drama which he wrote and is set to star in, with Get Low's Aaron Schneider directing.
