Depending on who you ask, Event Horizon is either a minor cult classic or B-movie garbage. Us? Well, we certainly won't say it's a shining gem in the horror genre, but it is a bloody good time and a wholly enjoyable watch, despite its shortcomings. Paul W.S. Anderson’s space horror flick has a pretty passionate fanbase and no matter where you stand in regards to how it holds up all these years later, or even how it played upon release, it's hard not to wonder how the fabled Director's Cut would have turned out.
An ancient, inexplicable curse binds Tom Cruise to Princess Ahmanet in this new promo for The Mummy, Universal and Alex Kurtzman’s mystical reboot that’s set to unlock a new world of gods and monsters. That's not the only thing it's set to do though, as the pic is also expected to kickstart the studio's Monsters Universe, one which will make room for characters like the Invisible Man, Frankenstein, the Wolf Man and more.
It's been a bit of a strange journey for The Dark Tower, Sony and Nikolaj Arcel’s long-in-development – and we do mean long-in-development – adaptation of Stephen King’s undisputed magnum opus that’s booked in for release on August 4th. As we just mentioned, the project's been in various stages of development for years now, passing through numerous actors and directors until it finally started to come together in its current form.
Nowadays, it's difficult to imagine anyone but Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Over the course of 17 years, the actor made the role his own, giving a legendary performance across numerous films in the X-Men franchise, which all culminated in James Mangold's Logan earlier this year.
The Coldest City, Antony Johnston and Sam Hart’s graphic novel about the dangerous world of espionage, has been simmering on the back-burner ever since Charlize Theron swooped in to acquire the screen rights a few years back. That’s hardly surprising, either, given the actress’ busy, busy schedule, but we’re now only a few months away from welcoming Johnston and Hart’s Cold War thriller onto the big screen in the form of Atomic Blonde.
For 17 long, long years, Hugh Jackman brought Wolverine to life with such a raw intensity that it’s difficult to imagine anyone else donning those iconic adamantium claws anytime soon. That saga, one with many ups and downs, reached its conclusion two months ago with the release of Logan, James Mangold’s poignant, R-rated finale that struck a chord with critics and X-Men fans the world over. However, with the actor now done with the role for good - or so he says - the question on everyone's mind is what's going to happen to good ol' Wolvie?
When people talk about their favorite Marvel films, you'll often hear the likes of Captain America: Civil War, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers brought up - which is understandable. However, there's a small but passionate fanbase who hold Peyton Reed's Ant-Man near and dear, citing it as one of the studio's stronger efforts. And that's a sentiment we wholeheartedly agree with.
Right now, all of the focus when it comes to the DCEU is being placed firmly on Wonder Woman, and rightfully so. After all, the film's due to arrive in just a few short weeks and with early reactions painting it as an absolute winner, fans are hopeful that this will finally be the movie that gets things back on track for the studio's struggling cinematic universe. Looking further ahead though, and Warner Bros. has several other DC projects cooking in the oven which we'll hopefully start learning more about in the not too distant future.
Things haven't been looking too good for the Terminator franchise lately. Most would agree that the last enjoyable instalment was the second one, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which released back in 1991. Since then, we've had Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation and Terminator Genisys, all of which failed to impress critics and fans. As such, the future of the iconic sci-fi series has been thrown into flux, but some promising news arrived earlier this year when it was reported that James Cameron was stepping in to save the day.
Well, that didn't take long. It hasn't even been 24 hours since Tom Hardy was announced to be playing Venom for Sony and already, fan artist extraordinaire Boss Logic has gone ahead and done his thing, mocking up a design of what The Dark Knight Rises star might look like in the role.
