Earlier this year, we reported that Zac Efron was cast in Matt Drake’s screenplay originally titled The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman. The script was on 2007's blacklist and Efron has been circling the role of the male lead for quite some time. The film would have Efron star in the lead role as a kid who goes on an existential journey to Eastern Europe and falls in love with a young woman who has ties with the criminal underworld. The film had no director attached unti
Fox has released another image for X-Men:First Class, this time it features Lucas Till as Havok. It is still too early to tell anything about the film from this image especially after the average trailer, and a few not so great posters. But the more images that are released, the more it helps its publicity, so here it is, another image from X-Men: First Class.
Cars may not have been Pixar’s highest grossing movie, but it was one of the biggest concerning merchandising. The sequel on the other hand, may have a harder time making money, partially due to its unoriginal story. International espionage, car chases, and explosions, this film seems to lack the originality that Pixar prides itself in and it is because of that unoriginality that my interest in this film is at an all time low.
Looks like Guillermo del Toro and James Cameron will not be seeing that green light for At the Mountains of Madness lit by Universal any time soon. Mike Fleming of Deadline has received word that del Toro and Legendary Pictures is moving towards a new monster project called Pacific Rim. The monster flick script was written by Travis Beachman and is aiming towards a PG-13 rating. The site adds that the project has been under the radar and that del Toro has been in the loop through this process.
Recently former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said that he was interested in returning to acting and that there were already offers on the table.
In this edition of casting news we got Brie Larson cast as a lead in 21 Jump Street, Julianne Moore joining Suck City, former 007 agent Pierce Brosnan in All You Need is Love, and more.
Brie Larson will star opposite Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube for the big screen adaptation of 21 Jump Street. Both Phil Lord and Chris Miller are directing using a script that Josh Appelbaum, Michael Bacall, Joe Gazzam, Jonah Hill and André Nemec wrote. Neil Moritz is producing. [Deadline]
The photo you are looking at isn’t something from a fun house, it’s a new photo featuring January Jones and Kevin Bacon from X-Men: First Class. The image comes courtesy of Empire and shows Jones and Bacon in the Hellfire Club. It makes me wonder how a room of mirrors with a blue light in the centre factors into the film. Either way, you have to be impressed with the way that Matthew Vaughn is pushing through with this film and will manage to finish editing it in time for its June 3rd release.
The actors have assembled, the director is set, and now Universal has officially greenlit the new 3D epic 47 Ronin. Directed by Carl Rinsch, who is making his feature debut, the martial arts fantasy adventure stars Keanu Reeves, Hiroyuki Sanada, Kou Shibasaki, Tandanobu Asano, and Rinko Kukuchi.

Considering the Academy Awards were held last night, I thought it would be fitting to make this a bit Oscar centric plus any additional news we may have missed throughout the day.
