Having cast doubt upon the likelihood of a Star Trek 4 with his comments just months ago, Zachary Quinto has now issued an assurance that he's aware of ongoing script work happening for the hoped-for sequel. Quinto - who plays Commander Spock in the J.J. Abrams- led rebooted franchise - has now made clear that, while he has no information to contradict the lack of an official announcement about the film, he does know that things are moving in the right direction.

When Alien was released in 1979, it quickly became apparent that we had a bona fide cinematic icon on our hands. Warrant Officer Ellen Ripley – played by Sigourney Weaver – became the figurehead of what evolved into one of the most beloved science fiction franchises ever committed to celluloid. Indeed, she's such a powerful character that even a drop into a furnace while her chest exploded could not kill her off. So, it stands to reason that every time Ridley Scott adds to the franchise with a prequel, he's asked if we’re ever going to see Ripley again.

Colin Trevorrow Talks Downside Of Directing Star Wars And Collaboration Between Directors

An interesting snippet of information came from a recent appearance by writer-director Colin Trevorrow on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast – and it concerns the level of collaboration that exists between directors of the core Star Wars films. Trevorrow is tasked with helming Star Wars: Episode IX, which is due to arrive in theatres in 2019. The podcast host asked him if he had requested any additions to Rian Johnson’s Star Wars - Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, to better set up his own franchise instalment – and apparently, he did.
