Showtime Cancels House Of Lies After Five Seasons

After some speculation about the viability of a sixth season of House Of Lies, Showtime has confirmed that the comedy will not be renewed past its fifth season finale – due to air on June 12th 2016. The announcement of series co-star Kristen Bell joining new NBC show The Good Place caused some to question whether House Of Lies would indeed return – although all involved insisted the actress could undertake both projects simultaneously. There is no longer any need to accommodate such a schedule, however, as House Of Lies officially prepares to shutter its windows.

Dwayne Johnson Hints At Doc Savage Involvement

It seems somewhat odd that, in this era of superhero movie domination, we have yet to see Dwayne Johnson headline as a bona fide comic book superhero. He’s played plenty of heroic figures in fun action-adventure films, but the actual superhero genre has yet to snag the former wrestler. He has long been associated with the DC title Shazam!, but with this remaining unconfirmed and unannounced, it has been left to an entirely different creative team to apparently lock him in: director Shane Black and his adaptation of Doc Savage.

First Teaser For The Rocky Horror Picture Show Arrives

It’s no secret that television – and in particular, Fox – is on a re-boot roll right now. With The X Files, Prison Break, Lethal Weapon, and The Exorcist all filling out the small screen in 2016, the announcement of The Rocky Horror Picture Show was met with more of a sense of inevitability and resignation, shock. At this point, it is almost tradition. A television network cancels a series, and fans of that series revolt. Back in the day, devotees would organise letter-writing campaigns, and inundate studios and network offices with missives pleading for their favourite show to be renewed. In this modern era, with the rise of social media, the reaction time is greatly reduced. Now, Twitter fills with bitter tears, and digital petitions are quickly circulated. Such is the case for Agent Carter – recently cancelled by ABC, and now the subject of a popular change.org petition, asking Netflix to save it.

Wentworth Miller Steps Back From DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow To Spearhead New Type Of Role

The Greg Berlanti-produced DC television universe is about to take a new approach to its characters, spearheaded by Wentworth Miller in his role as Captain Cold. Having first breathed life into the supervillain in the series The Flash, Miller continued his portrayal as part of the regular cast of the newer show, DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow. A shake-up was required, however, and the status of Miller’s character will change to being a ‘universe regular’, no longer tethered to a specific show.

In terms of the current film landscape, the significance of Queen Of Katwe cannot be overstated. As the backlash against tedious, white-male-centric storytelling continues to increase in volume, here we have what is essentially a hero origin story, where the hero is a young woman from Uganda, whose heroics emanate from a chess board. Moreover, it is a celebration of a real young woman, and all she has actually accomplished.
