I have been a film critic online and on the radio for 12 year years. I am a member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association as well as a member of the Broadcast Television Journalists Association.
“Mash-off” was a big play for Glee. For the first time since Sue began this ludicrous run for Congress there are some actual stakes. Santana being made a target served the secondary purpose of returning Santana’s struggle with her sexuality to the forefront.
This week on New Girl, Jess (Zooey Desschanel) has a date, and even better, she asked him out and he said yes while she was dressed as a giant turkey and he as a squash. If that is not a tailor made hook up for Jess then I do not know what is. In the short time that we have come to know Jess on New Girl we’ve come to expect quirky bordering on bizarre; a turkey and a squash is a superb example of this character and how we are coming to know and love her.
Ok, that isn’t exactly the most professional assessment a critic can offer but that was my honest exclamation when this week’s Two and a Half Men, "Frodo's Headshots," came to an end. For a show that is nine seasons old to blow the dust off of the old ‘it was all a dream’ story, there is little for one to say other than ‘that sucked.’
Deadline is reporting that NBC has stopped production on the Mario Bello detective series Prime Suspect. The well-reviewed but audience ignored series will complete shooting this week on its 12th episode as well as filming next week for a thirteenth episode before production shuts down with no timetable for the show’s return to production.
When last we saw Robin (Cobie Smulders) and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) they were making out in the back of a cab, despite the fact that both are/were in committed relationships. This week's episode, “Tick, Tick, Tick” finds Robin and Barney waking up in bed together.
The trailer for the hotly anticipated teen-centric action thriller The Hunger Games has gone online. Based on the novels by Suzanne Collins, the film stars Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark.
Cece (Hannah Simone) has had a fight with her boyfriend, DJ Diabetes, and comes to stay with Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and the guys for a few days. That’s the inciting incident of “Cece Crashes” the fifth episode of the hit series New Girl.
The writers of Two and a Half Men are sending Charlie Sheen a message; we don’t need you to make Charlie Harper funny. “Thank You for the Intercourse” is the second straight episode where the late Charlie Harper was the funniest thing in the episode. Last week it was Charlie’s journal filled with various chestnuts about Charlie’s life, his feelings about women, even his feeling for Alan (Jon Cryer), including a grudging love for the clingy little parasite.
The rape jokes on 2 Broke Girls reveal something about writer Whitney Cummings. She has a fear of being attacked and she’s attempting to deal with that fear by taking the power away from the word rape. Joking about rape gives her control over the word and the way she reacts to it. It’s a strange sort of coping mechanism; not every woman has a network TV show on which to deal with their fears and neuroses.
This week showcased a monumental moment in the history of How I Met Your Mother as Robin (Cobie Smulders) and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) reunited for a kiss. It came at the end of an emotional evening for Barney who finally rid himself of the ducky tie and may have been suffering from a concussion following a pair of brutal slaps from Marshall (Jason Segal).
