Lionsgate Announces Safe For Blu-Ray In September

Jason Statham and the action genre are no strangers, which made Safe look all too predictable and quite frankly boring. He's a great actor, especially when he flexes his acting muscles in stuff like Crank or The Bank Job, but sometimes his straight-to-DVD-ish looking films like The Mechanic just flat out irritate me.

Lionsgate has announced the latest Jason Statham actioner titled Safe for Blu-Ray in September.

Jason Statham and the action genre are no strangers, which made Safe look all too predictable and quite frankly boring. He’s a great actor, especially when he flexes his acting muscles in stuff like Crank or The Bank Job, but sometimes his straight-to-DVD-ish looking films like The Mechanic just flat out irritate me.

He’s the modern day Schwarzenegger or Stallone, so we can’t really knock on him, can we?

Safe somehow manages to be better than it looks. All of the clips and trailers are painting it out to be another crummy action picture, but the reality is slightly different, but with similar results. The action is expertly filmed, with proper camera placement and enough bullets to please just about anyone. To top things off the plot actually takes a few unpredictable turns, even though they don’t really make all that much sense.

Our very own Lindsay Sperling had this to say about the film in her review:

Safe is an average action film that has some cleverly written dialogue and unique plot elements that set it slightly above other films in the genre.

Lionsgate will be presenting the film in 1080p with a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The Blu-Ray/Digital Copy combo pack will come with an audio commentary and 3 behind-the-scenes featurettes.

Safe streets on September 4th, 2012.
