‘A lie can’t live forever’: Meghan Markle seemingly fires shots at the royal family with latest comments

The duchess is not biting her tongue anymore.

The royal beef continues as Meghan Markle’s latest comments have been interpreted as a subtle dig at her in-laws across the pond.

It’s no secret that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are pretty much cut off from the royals in the U.K. However, Harry’s recent comments about reconciliation and speculation regarding King Charles and Prince William had led some to believe the tensions between the two sides of the family were cooling off a little bit.

But maybe things aren’t going as well as they seem, as the Duchess of Sussex seems to have fired a few shots at the royal family with comments she made to her friend, Emma Grede. According to the Daily Mail, Emma asked Meghan, “If you could rewrite your public narrative from scratch, is there anything you would do differently?” To which the Duchess responded, “Yes, I would ask people to tell the truth.”

Who is “them,” and what does Meghan Markle mean about the truth?

Emma supported her friend and asked her whether she felt angry about people “lying about [her] all the time.” Meghan’s response definitely implied that she was talking about the royal family. “My dear friend Serena, she told me years ago: ‘A lie can’t live forever.’” She then drew attention to the time period she began dating Prince Harry, “Eight years is a long time, but not forever.”

Meghan became a target of numerous rumors and controversies as the British media persecuted her endlessly after she started dating the Prince. Meanwhile, it seemed like the firm was doing very little to protect her, which was part of the reason Meghan and Harry stepped down as frontline royals less than two years after getting married.

The Duchess went on to claim that she “wasn’t as empowered with [her] voice.” Her time as a fully fledged member of the royal family left her feeling silenced. She left social media and abandoned her popular lifestyle blog, The Tig, when she married into the monarchy. However, she told Emma that returning to Instagram “was a great way to get my voice back.”

Meghan’s comments certainly suggest she still holds it against the royals for taking away her voice and allowing the media to spread vicious lies against her. Of course, these comments are likely to reignite tensions between the Sussexes and the firm. One royal insider told the MailOnline that Meghan and Harry had been bullies behind Palace doors.

“There are plenty of people who worked with Harry and Meghan in those difficult years who would love to tell the truth about what happened to them.”

The royal couple have had bullying accusations thrown at them on numerous occasions. Their turnover rate for staff is unusually high, suggesting they may foster a toxic environment for workers. The truth is, we may never know the truth. Both sides have their own version of the truth, and perhaps the reality is somewhere in the middle. Maybe the Sussexes had better think twice before opening this can of worms.
