‘Actors and writers have lost their ability to make a living’: George Clooney makes it abundantly clear which side he’s on

He didn't sugarcoat his thoughts.

While a handful of disgruntled directors and writers continue to bash Disney boss Bob Iger for tasteless comments about the recent SAG strike, one of the most recognizable and profitable actors of all time has taken it upon himself to speak up on the matter and reveal which side he’s firmly on — and that would be Hollywood megastar George Clooney, who recently issued a strong-headed statement on the subject matter.

As per Deadline, Clooney issued the aforementioned statement to the press earlier this morning, with the Oscar-winning actor proclaiming that “actors and writers in large numbers have lost their ability to make a living,” touching upon the writers’ strike that initially started back in May.

Clooney also insisted that the SAG members’ strike “is an inflection point in our industry,” and that if change is actually going to happen, it needs to happen with these strikes. As Clooney delivered these remarks in the early hours, it’s important to note that SAG members are officially prepared to begin the strike later today.

The SAG-AFTRA strike has reportedly been brewing for some time now, and there’s no way to properly estimate how long the strike is set to last. But we do know for sure that the actors’ strike is undoubtedly going to shake things up at the box office for a long time.

Along with Clooney, a collection of other high-profile actors are standing in solidarity with SAG members and joining together in the demand for fair wages for writers and actors alike — which includes notable A-Listers Emily Blunt and Matt Damon.
