Pop star Ariana Grande has shared a strong message aimed at people who voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. The singer reposted questions on her Instagram Story that ask Trump supporters to think about whether the president has kept his promises about helping the economy almost nine months into his second term.
The message was first posted by makeup artist and activist Matt Bernstein. It asks voters if their lives have gotten better since Trump took office in January 2025. Bernstein’s post said it has been 250 days since Trump became president and asked several direct questions to his supporters.
The post asks Trump voters “Have your groceries gotten cheaper? Has your health insurance premium gone down?” It also asks, “has your work-life balance improved? can you take a vacation yet? are you happier?” The message then questions whether “the widespread suffering of others paid off for you in the way he promised it would, or are you still waiting?” This refers to what it describes as attacks on free speech, the suffering of immigrants and transgender people, and families being torn apart through deportation.
Grande has always been clear about her political views
The 32-year-old singer has spoken out about politics many times before. She supported Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election and backed Bernie Sanders in 2020. After Trump became president in January, Grande reposted a message from Advocates for Trans Equality that said “No matter what comes, we will protect each other.” This came after Trump signed an executive order saying the U.S. would only recognize male and female sexes.
The Instagram post talks about several controversial policies from Trump’s second term. These include large-scale immigration enforcement that has led to at least 500 migrant children being taken from their homes, according to reports. The government has also banned transgender people from serving in the military and stopped them from using an “X” gender marker on passports.
The message also seems to talk about actions by Trump and FCC chair Brendan Carr against late night host Jimmy Kimmel, who often criticizes the president. Back in June, Grande shared a message from New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez asking for Trump to be impeached.
Grande is getting ready for the November 21 release of Wicked: For Good, the second part of the movie version of the Broadway musical. The singer has been in the news throughout the Wicked press tour for her fashion choices and her friendship with co-star Cynthia Erivo. The post has started arguments online, with some people praising Grande for speaking up while others say her tone is too one-sided.
