The upcoming Bachelor variant shifts its focus upward in age, highlighting the hunt for love among senior citizen contestants. Every addition to the show will be aged 60 and up, and its very first Bachelor has already been announced. People are rallying around first-ever Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner, who’s set to serve as the show’s flagship bachelor.

Turner instantly sparked widespread interest, as the first-ever over-60 contestant. Turner is a stoically silver 71 years old and is looking for a companion to share his golden years with. The format behind Golden Bachelor is already garnering high interest, but there’s one sticking point among fans: how, exactly, do we pronounce Gerry’s name?

The spelling of “Gerry” indicates a hard J sound at the start of his name, which quickly prompted many folks to pronounce his name like “Jerry.” The first official trailer for Golden Bachelor threw audiences off, however, after Turner’s name was provided in the quick teaser for the series. As it turns out, his name is pronounced the same as “Gary,” with no hard J to be found.

Confusion around Turner’s name led to an uptick in searches for various alternate spellings of the debut contestant’s name. We’re not set to welcome Jerry or Gary into the Bachelor fold, however — we’re set to welcome the one and only Gerry, whose uniquely-spelled name is hopefully just the start of a thoroughly interesting new Bachelor series.
