‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ star’s assault allegations casts another dark cloud over the MCU

The parallels are unfortunately there for all to see.

Although the last thing on anybody’s mind in the wake of the allegations should be the state of a blockbuster superhero franchise, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Tenoch Huerta being accused of sexual assault by saxophonist and activist María Elena Ríos has inevitably drawn parallels to the ongoing Jonathan Majors situation.

As first reported by Reforma, Rios took to Twitter and called out the Poder Prieto collective for a podcast episode that was released without her consent due to a lack of payment. Heurta has ties to the organization, leading her to lambast the group for protecting the actor, who was repeatedly dubbed a “sexual predator.”

During a string of tweets laying her cards on the table, Rios then outlined that Poder Prior sought to hide behind the success of Wakanda Forever and the acclaim that greeted Huerta’s performance as Namor, even claiming she was tracked down during one of her concerts at the height of the film’s box office run to try and navigate any potential PR issues. Furthermore, the musician has made it clear that she’s not the only victim in this, either.

The situation is developing, but it’s already led to many people to compare it to the controversies surrounding Jonathan Majors, who also coincidentally debuted in a recent Marvel Studios production with a well-received villainous turn, before being struck with many accusations regarding his personal and professional conduct.

Of course, the comic book conglomerate is the least important element of the story, but the similarities are there for all to see nonetheless. Marvel wasted no time in refusing to acknowledge Majors’ existence in the aftermath of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but another high-profile star being caught up in a similar scandal so soon afterwards is something nobody could have predicted.
