BLACKPINK’s Jennie makes a vintage appearance at her Met Gala debut

Unlike Kim Kardashian, BLACKPINK's Jennie decided to recreate an iconic dress.

Tonight, Jennie became the second BLACKPINK member to make her debut at the Met Gala. The K-pop star understood the assignment of this year’s theme, which was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” and did not fail to to impress the crowd waiting for her arrival.

The K-pop star spoke with Vogue Magazine about her Met Gala debut and what convinced her to attend this year’s event. She told the magazine that she’s wearing a recreation of a ’90s runway dress made by the Chanel team, and was originally designed by Lagerfeld himself. Unlike the other dresses that were seen at the event, Jennie’s was simple and elegant, yet it managed to fit this year’s theme.

In addition to talking about who she’s wearing, Jennie also threw some shade at some of the attendees, after she stated that she was curious to see how “they sit down” with their wild, fancy, and in some cases, very long outfits. Meanwhile, she was wearing something close to simple.

Jennie isn’t the first BLACKPINK member to appear at the Met Gala. Rosé stunned the crowd back in 2021. Alongside former 2NE1 star, CL, both became the first female K-pop idols to be invited to the event. So when it was Jennie’s turn to walk the Met Gala red carpet, her fellow group member gave some friendly advice during her time at this year’s gathering.

Jennie isn’t the only K-pop star that’s scheduled to appear at the 2023 fashion event. There is speculation that BTS member Jimin will appear at the event as well, also marking his Met Gala debut. As of writing, he has yet to arrive. Other celebrities that finally made an appearance at this year’s event were Pedro Pascal, Halle Bailey, and Doja Cat, just to name a few.
