Brad Pitt confessed to Jennifer Aniston he was ‘attracted’ to Angelina Jolie and how he ‘fought’ his feelings

Prior to Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston’s split they really seemed like the perfect couple. Two very successful actors living the dream with a beautiful Beverly Hills mansion and plans for a long and happy life together, maybe even some children, but it was not to be as Pitt confessed he was attracted to another woman.

As we all know, the couple’s marriage fell apart in 2005, conveniently around the same time rumors began circulating around Pitt having an affair with his Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-star, Angelina Jolie. Aniston and Pitt released a joint statement which avoided placing blame on either side, but her now ex-husband was soon spotted holidaying with Jolie on a romantic getaway while Jennifer was left to pick up the pieces.

Brad and Angelina would go on to be together for ten years, marrying in 2014, but going through a nasty divorce in 2016, a split which still affects them both to this day.

However, back in 2005 Gossip about them was spreading fast and without word from Pitt or Aniston people quickly made assumptions about what happened. It seemed clear that Brad must have had an affair with Jolie after meeting on the set of the film they were working on. But did it really happen like that?

What happened between Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston?

Sitting down to talk with Vanity Fair eight months after their split, Jennifer Aniston and a few of her friends cleared up some of the vicious rumors that had been spread while also giving her side of the story. Pitt had apparently denied sleeping with Jolie and Aniston had believed him.

Jennifer’s Friends co-star, Courtney Cox, stated her belief that Pitt hadn’t started anything sexual with Jolie while on set, saying, “I don’t think he started an affair physically, but I think he was attracted to her.” Pitt had also apparently admitted his feelings of attraction towards Jolie to his wife, “There was a connection, and he was honest about that with Jen.” 

Cox went on to add, “Most of the time, when people are attracted to other people, they don’t tell. At least he was honest about it.” But while he may have been open about his feelings it seems Pitt could not resist temptation for the sake of his wife, “It was an attraction that he fought for a period of time.”

An executive of Pitt’s production company explained that the Friends actress had been well aware of the attraction her husband felt towards Jolie, “She’s not suggesting she didn’t know there was an enchantment, and a friendship. But Brad was saying, ‘This is not about another woman.’” But maybe giving Brad Pitt the benefit of the doubt was a mistake.

While it seems most involved agree there was nothing physical between Brad and Angelina prior to his split with Jennifer, it seems the Friends actress was well aware of what was going on between them. Unfortunately for her, there was just nothing she could do about it.
