Actor and Marvel star Chris Hemsworth is showcasing that even celebrities can be totally devoted fans, too, following his recent encounter with Ed Sheeran.
For context, the 39-year-old revealed on Twitter on June 12 that he has attended multiple Ed Sheeran concerts in honor of the singer’s Mathematics Tour. In the post, the Thor: Love and Thunder star would list numerous reasons why people, mainly Sheeran, would assume that he frequently attended the shows because he was a “superfan” and “borderline stalker.” Hemsworth would silence the allegations by stating that he went to concerts to be “a supportive mate.”
In addition to the caption, he uploaded a compilation video of the men joking around backstage the night before alongside Gordon Ramsey and Matt Damon before Sheeran’s performance at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The recording also included clips of the “Thinking Out Loud” singer performing onstage.
The video wrapped up with Hemsworth cheering Sheeran on. Also, in the tweet, he disclosed his appreciation for Sheeran and his work by congratulating the star “on breaking stadium records.”
As Hemsworth’s post began circulating online, many followers had plenty to say regarding the star’s video and admission.
One individual expressed how adorable the clip was and stated that Sheeran should be an “honorary Hemsworth brother.“
At the same time, another Twitter user claimed it was cool to see Hemsworth get starstruck around Sheeran.
A third person warned Hemsworth to tread lightly on the line of “being a fan and stalker” because it is “pretty thin.” Of course, a laughing emoji was thrown in for good measure.
Another social media user would capture a screenshot of an excited Hemsworth and state that Sheeran is considered a “musical genius” based on this reaction alone.
Although Sheeran has yet to comment on Hemsworth’s post, the singer did share a photo of the group on his Instagram page and commented on playing the biggest USA show to date. It is reported that Sheeran performed for more than 89,000 people at the MetLife stadium.
In the post, Sheeran celebrated his recent success by reminiscing about his earlier days in the music industry and how he performed for only 130 people. He wrote,
“Played my biggest ever USA show today and broke the ticket record at MetLife. I really don’t take this for granted, my dad told me if you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere, and today was really reminiscing about playing my first show at mercury lounge in 2012 to 130 people. It feels like a dream today. I love you all, see you in Toronto.”
Sheeran’s next stop on the Mathematics Tour will be in Toronto, Canada, on June 16; here’s hoping Hemsworth is in attendance.
