Coldplay exposes cheating Astronomer CEO and HR Chief – chances of Chris Martin nuking your marriage and career are low, but never zero

All that's left now are a few half-hearted apologies.

There are many summer weddings this year that will have Coldplay playing at the afterparties — but this year, the band might also end up getting mentioned in a few divorce proceedings too.

By now, we’ve all seen the video from the Coldplay concert where a middle-aged couple was caught canoodling and swaying by the band’s camera crew and blasted onto the jumbotron for the whole stadium to see. Normally, this is a huge honor. Couples get excited, they kiss or wave to the crowd. But this time, the couple turned away from the camera and even ducked. Chances are, if they’d just stood there without flinching, nobody would have thought twice about it. But the commotion? A very telling red flag.

Well, as the saying goes, the internet is forever. Soon, the clip was all over social media, with people identifying the man as Andy Byron, the CEO of Astronomer. Astronomer is a tech company dealing with data, valued at over $1 billion according to some financial reports. But what made the story more fascinating was that the woman with him was a coworker, Kristin Cabot.

And before you think they’d get in trouble with HR, well, she is HR. Her official title is “Chief People Officer,” and when she joined Astronomer, Byron was the first to celebrate her arrival, taking to his now-deleted LinkedIn account to call her a “proven leader.” Cabot, for her part, posted about how conversations with Andy left her “energized.” Indeed.

Chris Martin, who’s having quite the tumultuous relationship this summer himself, joked into the mic when he saw the couple duck away from the camera that they must just be “shy.” Then, with his classic smirk, he added that maybe they were having an affair.

Things quickly went from bad to worse for Byron as social media sleuths found his wife’s Facebook page. Megan Kerrigan Byron was soon flooded with messages of support, and it didn’t take long before she dropped “Byron” from her name. It’s funny how, unlike J.Lo and Ben Affleck’s breakups that play out on celebrity news sites, tech CEO drama unravels on LinkedIn and Facebook.

With everyone’s accounts now private or deleted, it’s likely divorce lawyers are being called, maybe even a few half-hearted apologies are being drafted. But that level of public embarrassment is hard to walk back. Social media detectives are deep on the case, and it’s probably only a matter of time before they discover if this was part of a pattern. And knowing TikTok, someone out there likely has cringe worthy screenshots.

To make matters worse, Byron – in the typical fashion of cheaters blaming others for their shameful indiscretion – accused Coldplay of infringing on his privacy in a letter that’s supposed to be an apology.

But hey, this is exactly the kind of Friday that employees at Astronomer won’t forget anytime soon. The couple was so red in that video that you could practically see the embarrassment. Another fun fact: the skybox they were in was reportedly the company’s VIP skybox, so there’s already chatter that their affair was an open secret. Regardless, sorry to Megan.
