DC’s new Superman Jack Quaid gives his verdict on David Corenswet, DC’s new Superman

Men of Steel have gotta stick together.

There’s a saying in my native U.K. that goes “you wait ages for a bus and then two come along at once.” Well, it seems it’s the same with new Supermen. Just days before we’re set to get the first adventures of DC’s latest actor to portray the Man of Steel arrive on the airwaves, we’ve received the announcement that… DC has cast an even newer new Superman.

Still, at least there’s no hard feelings between the two competing Clark Kents. Jack Quaid, The Boys star who’s set to voice Kal-El in Adult Swim’s incoming My Adventures With Superman animated series, took to Twitter following the news that David Corenswet is officially taking the lead of James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy reboot.

“Met [David Corenswet] years ago doing a pilot that never got picked up,” Quaid shared on Twitter. One of the nicest people I’ve ever worked with. He’s going to absolutely CRUSH this role. So happy for you, man! Congrats.”

It’s hard to say whether My Adventures With Superman coming out right in the midst of Superman: Legacy hype is good for the show or not — are more eyes being drawn towards it because of the interest in the movie or away from it? There are certainly bound to be various similarities between the anime-influenced series and Gunn’s own reimagining of the Last Son of Krypton’s mythos, not least the focus on Clark and Lois’ relationship.

Nevertheless, it’s clear Quaid couldn’t be happier for his former one-time co-star in landing the role that he’s already got to dip into himself. Plus, Quaid’s unlikely to get proprietorial, given how many other superhero-adjacent parts he’s got under his belt — don’t forget he also played a Spider-Variant in Across the Spider-Verse. Until Henry Cavill speaks publicly about Corenswet’s casting, we’ll take this as the actor’s official welcome into the Superman family.
