‘Den of Thieves 2’ recruits former UFC champion to reprise role and join Gerard Butler in sequel

He's back!

Do you like the not-so-bad 2018 heist film Den of Thieves, starring Gerard Butler? Well, here’s some sequel news: former UFC champion Michael Bisping is returning for the second go around.

The British fighter and tough guy will star in Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, which I’m pretty sure is not about a heist involving the legendary heavy metal band, but who knows. Bisping will display more of his acting talent alongside fellow returning stars Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. in the film, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Bisping is no stranger to the world of acting. He’s had roles in xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, Twin Peaks, Warrior, Never Back Down: Revolt, and Triple Threat. He’ll next appear in the Red Sonja movie.

This may just be his Dave Bautista moment because he’s also in a new documentary called Bisping, and he continues to do commentating on UFC fights and the show Hyperdrive. However, it’s his fighting that got him noticed in the first place. Take a look:

I wouldn’t want to get between him and a cheeseburger. What a beast! The guys got more punches than in the movie Roundhouse.

Pantera started filming in the UK and the Canary Islands in April, and it continues the story that started in the first film. The heist this time? Diamonds. Yes, they’re not reinventing the wheel here, but why fix what ain’t broken?

Bisping was actually one of four UFC fighters cast in the first film. Those include John Lewis, Max Holloway, and Oleg Taktarov. We’ll let you know when there’s an official release date but expect it sometime in Q4 next year.
