Diddy’s prison release has been pushed back after allegations of living a pampered lifestyle behind bars

“Money is power, especially behind bars.”

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ scheduled prison release date has been pushed back following a report detailing an alleged VIP, pampered lifestyle he maintained while incarcerated. Bureau of Prisons records now show that Combs is slated for release on March 2, 2028. This is a six-week change from his original release date of January 21, 2028. Combs is currently serving a 50-month sentence for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey.

According to PEOPLE, the Bureau of Prisons issued a statement on Wednesday, October 7, regarding the situation. “For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual, including reasons for a change in release date,” the agency stated. While the BOP remained tight-lipped on specifics, the change in his release timeline aligns with his recent placement in solitary confinement.

NBC News reported that the music mogul allegedly bypassed prison regulations to live in relative comfort. Four men who spent time in the same unit at Fort Dix reportedly described a system where Combs paid other inmates to handle his daily chores. This included men who cooked his meals, cleaned his living space, and even provided massages. As one source told NBC, “This is not some normal s— you see in jail. This is some rich s—. It looks crazy, but again, it’s Diddy.”

His reported access came with swift consequences

NBC News reported that Combs allegedly spent thousands of dollars a month to facilitate this lifestyle. According to the outlet, he allegedly often did so by funneling money into the commissary accounts of other inmates who performed services for him.

These services allegedly included cleaning toilets before he used them and preparing specialized meals like curry chicken, pizza, and empanadas using makeshift heating elements. One man who previously cooked for him told NBC, “After a while, I got tired of cooking. He started going to the Jamaicans.”

NBC reported reviewing footage that seemed to show Combs using contraband items like a cellphone. Sources alleged to the outlet that he used the phone to scroll through Instagram and view sexually explicit photos sent by a former girlfriend. Furthermore, the reports claimed he had access to a “jailbroken” tablet used to watch movies and documentaries, including the Netflix series Sean Combs: The Reckoning.

According to TMZ, a day after NBC’s report came to light, Combs was returned to the Special Housing Unit, or solitary confinement, in response to the allegations. The outlet noted that such moves are standard procedure while officials conduct an investigation into an inmate’s behavior. PEOPLE also confirmed this move to solitary confinement.

According to NBC, the prison environment at Fort Dix has faced its own challenges with contraband, which may complicate matters for high-profile inmates. Federal prosecutors have recently charged multiple people, including corrections officers, in connection with smuggling schemes involving knives, marijuana, and cellphones.

Since 2020, there have also been incidents involving drones used to drop illicit goods into the facility. Drones were also reportedly used to drop fancy Christmas dinners to prisoners in South Carolina last year.

A spokesperson for Combs seemed to downplay the reports by telling NBC News that the media is characterizing “ordinary prison life as news.” However, the reality of his situation remains under heavy investigation. The spokesperson added, “The only real news is that Sean continues to serve his sentence while awaiting the court’s decision on his appeal.”

Combs’ time at Fort Dix has been marked by several notable events since his transfer from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, per the outlet. He was reportedly placed in solitary confinement over the summer following a fight with another inmate, which also resulted in him being removed from a drug treatment program that could have potentially reduced his sentence.

Despite these setbacks, sources describe a man who remains a focal point for other inmates. “He’s a billionaire. People are in awe of him,” one source told NBC. “Money is power, especially behind bars.”
