It felt like the entire world collectively mourned Dolly Parton when she died a month ago. But now, in the wake of her death, some bizarre drama has erupted in the Parton estate involving her nephew, Bryan Seaver.
Seaver was close to Dolly in life and was responsible for her personal security. In addition, he was the one who officially confirmed her death to the world, claiming it was “something Dolly asked of me years ago.” Now things have taken a unnerving twist. The Dolly Parton estate, run by her former manager Danny Nozell, has filed for a restraining order against Seaver detailing a dramatic series of allegations about his behavior.
As per Billboard, Nozell’s lawsuit alleges that “These were not ordinary workplace disputes or heated words; they were deliberate threats from a self-proclaimed heavily armed, former security operative with a military-contractor background,” and goes on to claim that staff members “are now afraid to come to work or have resigned entirely because they do not feel safe.”
“All I do is warfare”
Seaver himself has reportedly confirmed some of this, with Billboard claiming that he told Nozell “I’m a killer” and “I’m literally an international arms dealer and mercenary. All I do is warfare. Everyone needs to be worried about what I might do.”
The suit goes on to claim that Seaver told Nozell he’s made a $27m arms and ammunition deal with some unnamed Haitians and that he’d threatened to “set up a podcast dedicated to ruining Dolly’s brand partnerships and telling the violations these people have done on us. It’s going to be great. Or ****ing pay me.”
Seaver was quizzed by TMZ about this and explained: “I am a career soldier and military contractor and do conduct arms deals for foreign governments. I am a security professional and I am a killer. However, nothing in this lawsuit were threats and most of the comments I stand by.” TMZ also reported Seaver explaining away the apparent threats as “two guys having rage talk.”
It’s unclear what will happen next. A Nashville judge is considering the restraining order filing, while Seaver insists he’s the wronged party. Via TMZ, Seaver said: “We remain unshakably resolved to fulfil her final directive to protect her family, and we refuse to be intimidated by those whose actions we believe are being taken in bad faith and with the intent to profit from the life of someone who willingly gave so much.”
