Donald Trump crosses all boundaries, claims Rob Reiner openly opposing the president is what got him killed

We've never had a president this bad at knowing when to shut up.

President Donald Trump has issued a truly startling statement regarding the recent deaths of director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, suggesting that the couple’s alleged homicide was caused by the “anger he caused others” due to his massive political opposition. This is some incredibly dark commentary, especially since police have not linked the tragedy to the director’s political views in any way.

This tragedy unfolded on Sunday when Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele, 70, were found dead in their Brentwood home. Law enforcement sources noted that the couple suffered lacerations consistent with a knife, but there was reportedly no sign of forced entry at the residence.

The president shared his thoughts Monday morning on Truth Social, using the tragic situation to double down on his long-standing criticism of the director. The post is genuinely shocking because it turns what appears to be a homicide into a highly political talking point with absolutely zero indication from police that politics were involved.

Imagine the most inappropriate thing you can think of, and Trump will beat it

President Trump wrote that, “Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS. He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

Honestly, this is one of the most callous statements I’ve ever seen from a political leader, and it’s hard to imagine anyone writing that out and not feeling terrible inside. While President Trump has a long history of making derogatory statements about his critics and political adversaries, attributing a potential murder to a victim’s political views is startling, especially when there’s no evidence to support that claim.

The president’s comments stand in sharp contrast to recent efforts by his administration and some conservative allies to punish those on the left who suggested violence was deserved against other political figures. This statement shows a complete lack of grace or empathy, which is something we have come to expect from Trump, especially when the tragedy involves an outspoken critic.

Reiner was well-known in Hollywood not just for directing classics like The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and Stand By Me, but also for his dedication to progressive activism. He was a huge supporter of the Democratic Party, which surely fueled the president’s ire.

Beyond his directing career, Reiner co-founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights, which was instrumental in overturning Proposition 8, the 2008 ballot measure that banned same-sex marriage in California. He also championed Proposition 10 in California, which created a crucial program for early childhood development services.
